Founded as an independent healthcare consulting firm.
KHC was established in 1980 with a simple premise: healthcare organizations deserve consultants who understand the clinical, financial, and regulatory realities of the industry from the inside. From day one, our team has been drawn from practitioners and administrators, who built their careers inside healthcare.
2009
Independent again—and stronger for it.
After six years as part of Navigant Consulting, one of the nation's most respected healthcare advisory firm, KHC returned to its independent roots in 2009. That chapter gave our team exposure to large-scale institutional engagements. Returning to independence gave our clients something national firms can't offer: direct access to the senior consultants who actually do the work, every engagement, without exception.

Charlotte founded Kohler HealthCare Consulting in 1980 and has led the firm through four decades of healthcare industry change. Her expertise spans revenue cycle management, compliance, and clinical documentation—with a career built entirely inside healthcare organizations before moving into consulting.
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
Irene Torino
BSN, MS
Irene brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to every engagement, working across providers, academic medical centers, community hospitals, post-acute care organizations, home health agencies, and law firms. Her expertise spans regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse, litigation support, coding and billing, and claims and reimbursement reviews.

Khalida S. Burton
MBA, FHFMA, CRCE, CRCR
Khalida brings more than 25 years of revenue cycle and reimbursement expertise to KHC, spanning hospitals, health systems, medical practices, and skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. Her work covers the full continuum of the revenue cycle, from front-end patient access and charge capture to managed care contracting and back-end billing operations.
